The Muslim Minorities Monitor mourns the loss of the South African scholar Yousuf Ahmed Deedat who passed away on Friday 17/1/2020 in result of an assassination that took place on Wednesday morning 15/1/2020 in Verulam, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
As we offer our sincerest condolences to the family of Mr. Deedat, we emphasise on the importance of conducting a thorough investigation to track down his murderer and bring them to justice, without negligence as was the case with Filipino scholar “Abddullah Bedejim” who was assassinated in the Philippines over a year ago.
The Monitor also calls upon the South African authorities to maintain seriousness, transparency and integrity in the search for Mr. Deedat’s murderer; to maintain the social peace of which South Africa is well-known as an example of Muslims’ coexistence with other societies in South Africa
